Connecting Torsion to Microsoft 365

Introduction subscribing to Torsion


Subscribe to either purchase Torsion or for a free 30-day free trial from our website

or directly from the Azure Marketplace

After you subscribe, you'll receive an email with a unique link to your secure Torsion tenant that looks somewhat similar to the one below

Please keep in mind that you must sign in with the email address you used to sign up for Torsion


Logging into Torsion


After successfully logging into Torsion, you will be sent to the overview page  


 


Platform Connection


Choose Platform Connection to establish a secure connection to your Microsoft 365 environment.


  


Choose the Add Platform Connection option


  


Title


Name the Platform Connection


Choose Office 365 as the Type



 

Choose Torsions Activation mode 

These options affect how Torsion can interact with Storage Areas in your Platform, as new Storage Areas are found, Torsion will activate Torsion appropriately on them. 


Active Control 

Torsion will actively control permissions for users and information resources on the platform. 

Observe Only 

Torsion will observe permissions configurations and provide reporting and visibility functionality - but not modify anything on the platform. 

Suspended 

Torsion will not connect to the platform or provide any functionality for it. 


Select continue


Configuration


 

Select Connect to Office 365 


 


To connect Torsion to Microsoft 365, you must first sign in with the corresponding Global Admin account. 


 

You'll then be asked to accept the Permissions Request 


 

 


If the connection fails, you may need to retry and authenticate again. This is related to the manner in which Microsoft 365 constructs application permissions. 


 

 

Once this has connected select to continue  

 

Storage Areas


Torsion can now manage Storage Areas. Torsion's Active Control, Observe Only, and Suspend All options are available to you. 

Active Control 

Torsion will actively control permissions for users and information resources on the platform. 

Observe Only 

Torsion will observe permissions configurations and provide reporting and visibility functionality - but not modify anything on the platform. 

Suspended 

Torsion will not connect to the platform or provide any functionality for it.

 

 


Select continue


Details

 

 


The title, platform connection type, activation, storage areas activated, and last connection result are all displayed on the details page. 


Select continue to view the Platform Connections Page.
