Symptom:
When attempting to view the Sharing and Security Panel in Torsion, you may see an empty blank screen. This can be caused by browser cookies being disabled or blocked.
Cause:
Torsion uses a secure cookie as the session token for communicating with its services, and if this cookie is disabled or blocked, it can cause issues with missing buttons, security icons, and failed dialogues. This can occur if a user has disabled third-party cookies or if certain domains are not whitelisted.
Solution:
To resolve this issue, certain domains can be whitelisted to allow Torsion and Microsoft to create cookies. The whitelisted domains are:
https://user.torsionis.com https://login.microsoftonline.com
The process of whitelisting depends on the browser used, and some browsers may not support it. It is recommended that partners or IT departments make these changes via group policy.
Here are some specific steps for popular browsers:
Google Chrome:
Google may change support for third-party cookies in 2023, but currently supports whitelisting of domains. To enable third-party cookies in Chrome, follow these steps:
Open Chrome and click the three dots in the upper-right corner.
Select "Settings" from the drop-down menu.
Scroll down to "Privacy and Security" and click on "Cookies and other site data".
Select "Allow all cookies".
Click on "Add" under the "Sites that can always use cookies" section.
Add the following domains: "user.torsionis.com" and "login.microsoftonline.com".
Click "Add" and then click "Done" to save the changes.
Apple Safari on MacOS:
All third-party cookies are blocked by default on Safari. To enable third-party cookies, follow these steps:
Open Safari and click on "Safari" in the top menu bar.
Select "Preferences" from the drop-down menu.
Click on the "Privacy" tab.
Uncheck the box next to "Prevent cross-site tracking".
Close the Preferences window.
Microsoft Edge (Chromium):
All third-party cookies are enabled by default in Microsoft Edge (Chromium). To manage cookies, follow these steps:
Open Edge and click the three dots in the upper-right corner.
Select "Settings" from the drop-down menu.
Click on "Cookies and site permissions".
Click on "Manage and delete cookies and site data".
Under "Allow", add the following domains: "user.torsionis.com" and "login.microsoftonline.com".
Firefox:
All third-party cookies are blocked by default in Firefox. To enable third-party cookies, follow these steps:
Open Firefox and click the three lines in the upper-right corner.
Select "Options" from the drop-down menu.
Click on "Privacy & Security" on the left side of the screen.
Scroll down to the "Cookies and Site Data" section and click on "Manage Permissions".
Click on "Add" and add the following domains: "user.torsionis.com" and "login.microsoftonline.com".
Click "Save Changes" to save the changes.
Note that Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge (legacy) do not support whitelisting of domains.
